Donato Ricci. Making you see what they are saying. Visual tools for social complexity and controversies.

The relationship between design interventions and the environment in which they are performed more and more are seen as complex. Some authors as Dosi & Marengo stated that when acting within complex systems two kind of awkwardness could emerge: the knowledge-gap, the erroneous representation of the reality, and the problem solving-gap, the distance between the problem to be faced and the tools provided to solve them.
To face this kind of challenges more and more often multi-disciplinary projects and and multi organizational teams are established, but in such kind of work environment each member has different perspective, knowledge, capability and approach: a common language could be useful to cooperate efficiently, to share goals and to adopt a systemic thinking. This research explores the design knwoledge management issues by the perspective of the sharing practice. Through a deep ethnography analysis, specificities of design knowledge has been underlined, a rigorous methodological approach has been developed as an effective communication design research tools, and finally insights and suggestions are provided towards a relevant design intervention in the field of ICT technology for the knowledge management.
